I have been
sailing for nearly 40 years. This has included dinghy cruising and racing,
coastal cruising, teaching, crewing on a Tall Ship, and my primary interest,
traditional Norfolk Broads Sailing Yachts. The links below describe some of these
and also include some technical articles.
I first
sailed on the Norfolk Broads in the 1960’s and developed an enthusiasm for
traditional engineless yachts. For many years this interest lay dormant as I
worked in outdoor centres in mountain regions and concentrated on caving and
climbing, but in the last few years I have been returning to the
The Sailing Challenge – June 2005. (An
attempt to reach all the limits of navigation).
Going through Great Yarmouth. (A
guide to making this difficult passage in an engineless yacht).
The Norfolk Broads Forum Meet (June 2006).
I have
spent more time offshore in the last year or so. Details are here
In February
2008 I became the owner of a Laser II Sailing Dinghy. An amount of work was
needed to get it up and running, but it is now at White Rose Sailing Association
on the river Ure in Ripon. The plan is to sail both on my own and with the
family. Details of our sailing will appear in my Sailing Blog
